Our motto is derived from the work of Stephen Covey, author of "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People".
Our aim is to encourage people to move out from inside their own world and into the mind field of others.
Genuinely understanding people requires this.
Covey conceives habits of thinking in terms of possibilities not limitations, and then seeking first to understand and then to be understood.
When we are self-focussed, or self-absorbed, or when we just tune in with the intent to reply, we are not able to listen. There is too much of our own noise inside our mind and brain and too much activity in our body. As a result we can slip into ineffective habits.
To listen requires quietening this noise and activity and creating a culture of sharing power; utilising positive aspects of personality (values); developing information and knowledge through genuine curiosity, not judgement, as we need and want to understand. We then go about achieving creative solutions through shared values and open communication.
The quieter you become, the more you identify mentally, and the more you hear the more you can commit to sharing values, mission and purpose with all people throughout the life span.
No technique, no matter how powerful, will achieve results, unless we engage fully with people with openess, courage and curiosity - techniques by themselves cannot replace creative counselling, coaching or psychology - the hallmark of Allied Learning Systems.
